Refund Policy

Freelancer Spot holds all client payments in escrow until an order is completed or resolved. This policy explains exactly when and how refunds are issued.

1. Full Refund Scenarios

You are entitled to a full refund in the following situations:

  • Order cancelled before acceptance: The client cancels an order that the freelancer has not yet accepted. Full amount is refunded immediately to the client's wallet.
  • Freelancer cancels: The freelancer cancels the order for any reason. The full amount is refunded to the client's wallet.
  • Mutual cancellation approved: If work is in progress and both parties agree to cancel, the full amount is refunded to the client's wallet.
  • Dispute resolved in client's favour: An admin rules that the freelancer did not deliver as agreed. The full amount is refunded to the client's wallet.
  • Freelancer fails to deliver: The freelancer does not deliver within the agreed deadline and the client raises a dispute. The admin may issue a full refund.

2. No Refund Scenarios

  • Order completed and accepted: Once the client clicks "Accept Delivery" or the 3-day auto-complete timer expires after delivery, the order is marked complete and payment is released to the freelancer. Refunds are not available after this point.
  • Change of mind after work has started: If a client simply changes their mind after the freelancer has begun work, a refund is not automatically issued. A mutual cancellation or dispute process applies.
  • Platform fee: The 10% platform fee is non-refundable once an order is marked complete, regardless of any subsequent disputes about quality.

3. Partial Refunds

Partial refunds may be granted at the discretion of our admin team in dispute cases where the freelancer delivered some, but not all, of the agreed scope of work.

4. How Refunds Are Processed

  • Wallet credit (instant): All refunds are credited to the client's Freelancer Spot wallet immediately upon cancellation or dispute resolution.
  • Bank withdrawal: You may withdraw refunded wallet balance to your bank account or UPI ID at any time. Bank withdrawals take 3–5 business days.
  • Refunds are not automatically reversed to the original payment method (card/UPI) used for the purchase. They are credited to your wallet.

5. Cancellation by Client (In-Progress Orders)

If you are a client and wish to cancel an order that is already in progress:

  • You must submit a cancellation request with a reason through the order page.
  • The freelancer has 48 hours to approve or reject your request.
  • If approved → order is cancelled and full amount is refunded to your wallet.
  • If rejected → the order continues. You may raise a dispute if you believe the freelancer is at fault.
  • If the freelancer does not respond within 48 hours → you may escalate to support.

6. Dispute-Based Refunds

Either party may raise a dispute on an order that is in "Delivered" status. Our admin team will review evidence from both parties and make a decision. See our Dispute Resolution Policy for full details.

7. Cashfree & Payment Gateway

Payments are processed by Cashfree. In rare cases of payment gateway failure or double-charge, contact us at support@freelancerspot.in with your Cashfree payment ID and we will resolve it within 5 business days.
